Kathryn W. Smith, MS is the Director of Learning Technologies and Assessment for ITLC. Prior to this, she was the Assistant Director of Academic Affairs, Foundation Phase at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She received her Master of Instructional Technology from North Carolina A&T State University and wrote her thesis on Team-Based Learning in Medical Education. Her undergraduate degree is in 

Elementary Education from Elon University. Prior to entering higher education, Ms. Smith taught at a Title I ElementarySchool in rural North Carolina. She helped to develop the county’s eCoach program which helped train other educators on how to effectively utilize various instructional technologies. She went on to become the countywide eCoach facilitator. Upon entering higher education, she has continued to help faculty members develop skills in incorporating educational technologies effectively in the large and small group classrooms. She has presented at many conferences, including the AMA ChangeMedEd Conference, about how to effectively use technology in the Medical Education classroom.

Todd Zakrajsek is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and former Executive Director of the Academy of Educators at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Todd served as a tenured associate professor of psychology at Southern Oregon University before directing three teaching centers (Southern Oregon University, Central Michigan University, and University of North Carolina) over the past 15 years. Todd currently serves in leadership roles for several educational efforts, and sits on editorial boards for journals in the area of teaching and learning. He also directs five Lilly Conferences on College and University Teaching and Learning. Todd is an international speaker who is requested regularly for keynotes and campus workshops, having published and presented widely on the topic of effective teaching and student learning. Todd recently co-authored two books, The New Science of Learning 2nd Edition (2019) and Teaching for Learning (2015).
